About us

At PLAY Wind & Brass we pride ourselves on our knowledge of all things woodwind and brass.  Integrity is the backbone of everything we do.  We are open, honest and want you to buy an instrument that you love to play, not just make a quick sale. We are friendly and welcoming and will go out of our way to make your experience worthwhile whether you’re a total beginner or a professional musician.

Scott MacKenzie

Scott started playing music at a very young age, but found the saxophone at age 13 and has never looked back. He has been working in the repair industry since 1998 after completing an Instrument Technology course at Merton College, London. Stints as a repairer at Howarth of London and Macari's solidified his skills on the work bench. Scott became the owner of The Music Place Annandale in 2010 and rebranded to PLAY Wind & Brass in 2017.

Bo Pang

Bo has been working alongside Scott for five years. He plays Saxophone and studied at AIM gaining a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Performance.  He is our "go-to guy" in the shop for info on vintage sax mouthpieces. As if this wasn't enough, he's also a great repair tech.

Dave Hughes

Not the comedian, but an extremely talented brass guy. Dave's skills as a brass repair tech are outstanding. He plays Trumpet and is also a graduate of AIM with a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Performance.

Louie Stojcevski

The guy with the love! Louie is our friendly face that you will meet when you arrive in-store. A multi-instrumentalist, Louie plays both Sax and Clarinet with Marsala as well as many other outfits. His knowledge of mouthpiece and reed combinations, and different techniques of playing will astound.

Ilija Ampevski

The newest member of our repair team, Ilija is a recognised international recording artist. He plays Baltic folk music like no-one else, with 20 albums to his name. On top of all this, he is a damn fine repair tech.

Anthony Tummillo

Anthony is currently studying at the Sydney Con as a Saxophone performer. He is often in-store on Saturdays and school holidays and has his finger on the pulse of what is hot on the Sydney jazz scene. A great guy with a big playing career ahead of him.
